Guiding the Way

An important mission of the Wetlands Center is to educate the public about wetlands, which are not only beneficial for animals, but also for humans. People use wetlands for a variety of recreational activities, and we also rely on wetlands to produce the seafood we eat. Wetlands also benefit people by serving as flood and erosion control and water purification systems.

Self-guided Tours
To get this message to the public, the Wetlands Center has developed a self-guided tour through its facility. When possible, a Wetlands Center staffer will be available to walk through the center with visitors. However, in the event a staffer is not available, there are many informational signs that point the way and give interesting information about the exhibits. The Wetlands Center is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays. Visitors may take the self-guided tour during these hours. There is no fee.

Group Tours
The Wetlands Center staffers are available to give group tours as time permits. In some cases, there is a fee. For more information on arranging a group tour, please call the Wetlands Center at (281) 420-7128.

Special Presentations
As part of the effort to educate people about wetlands, staff members occasionally give special presentations to groups, either at the Wetlands Center or at local meetings. This is determined on a per-case basis, as time permits. For more details on arranging a special presentation, call the Wetlands Center at (281) 420-7128.
