Splashing into Summer

The 2005 Wade into Wetlands Summer Science Camp is currently in full swing at the Wetlands Center.  This week-long program is held eight times during the summer for students entering grades 6-10.  Response to the camp has been great, as usual, and all classes are full.

The camp is sponsored by Chevron Phillips and conducted by Wetlands Center staff, along with assistance from volunteers.  If you'd like to help out, call the Wetlands Center at 281-420-7128.

Volunteer Bob Craig Honored

In January 2004, the Parks and Recreation Board unanimously voted to name the Wetlands Center exhibit hall the Robert M. Craig Exhibit Hall after longtime Wetlands Center volunteer Bob Craig, who passed away in September 2003.

Bob was instrumental in developing many exhibits in the 9,000 square foot hall. He played a key role in the design and development of the style and content of the exhibits that will continue to guide us for a long time.

Bob began volunteering at the Wetlands Center in 1999. Each year Bob worked at the Wetlands Center he amassed 25% or more of the total volunteer hours for the year. His commitment and support of the center were unsurpassed. He was always willing to lend a hand, literally in most cases. He is greatly missed.
